We're Sway.ly, and this is our privacy guide designed for teens. This guide explains what information we collect when you use our Sway.ly app or website (https://www.sway.ly/), why we need this information, and how we keep it safe. If you're a teen, we've made everything as simple as possible so you can understand how we protect your privacy.
We are Say As Limited, and we created Sway.ly, a new tool designed with and for young people 13 and over, to make social media safer without blocking content. Many teens told us (through an international, nationally representative survey) that fake news, hate, and toxic content makes them feel anxious, angry or overwhelmed. So we designed Sway.ly to help you take control of your feed so social media feels better.
Sway.ly is a groundbreaking app that analyses your social media feed to understand the negative content (violence, hate, fake news, among many other things) you're exposed to: it alerts you to what you're seeing and gives you information about the physical and mental health impact this type of content can have on you.
To use Sway.ly, your parent (the account holder) will need to share some basic information with us (name or nickname, age, gender and your relationship to them) and will have to share an invite and login code with you through their digital method of choice (message or email).
We also collect some info from your device and we look at what you interact with on social media- likes, comment, repost or reshare, watch, save, subscribe, follow, favourites, or scroll through, among others- to help build a scorecard showing the amount of negative content you might see and other insights. If there's too much, we'll explain why it might be harmful and propose ways to make your feed better or make other suggestions. To enable our services to analyse this information, you will need to authenticate by entering your login credentials (username and password) directly in the app, so we will also process that information. Your password is never saved or stored by us though.
We collect your personal information so we can…
Give you the best Sway.ly experience | Make our app and site work properly | Improve what we offer | Stay in touch with you when needed |

We use your information because it helps us run Sway.ly the right way, keep our promises to you and your family, and follow the law. Grown-ups call this our "lawful basis"-that just means we have a good reason and permission to use your information.
We only keep your information as long as we need to. We won't keep it forever-only for as long as we need to do our job properly, including to comply with law.
